My 1st degree is in Computer Systems Design and Business Management. I worked in this field for a subsidiary of Mitsubishi in Vancouver.
In the early 1980’s I spent a little over a year traveling through the Caribbean, studying Vegetarian Cooking and Herbal Medicine Usage. When I landed on Dominica, I had a dream I would live here.
I returned to Canada to work in the Health Food Industry while studying herbal medicine and healthy ecologically aware living.
During this time I began to really see and experience the long time benefits of practicing yoga and living healthy.
I decided to train to be a yoga teacher. After 2 years studying yoga with Archa Mati of Sahaj Yoga Centre Toronto; I returned with my children to live in Dominica.
Over the years while teaching yoga I worked in various fields.
First in the eco tourism industry; co-developing, writing and implementing eco tourism certification programs.
Then for 3 years I taught 4 and 5 year olds at Pioneer Preparatory School; a school where the focus is the holistic education of children.
What a dream come true to be able to work in areas that you love!
Now I divide my time between: promoting health and wellness; teaching yoga; providing yoga experiences in nature; writing and helping teachers of young children through assistance and support with implementing their educational programmes.
I am lucky to be able to wake up each morning and thank God I am living my dream! I am lucky to share yoga in this incredible environment. I am blessed by the way Dominicans have included me in their community.
Raspect!
